Grasshopper is planar

WebMar 2, 2013 · I am a little disappointed that the planar surface component doesn´t work like the used icon is promising. The icon shows a bunge of curves and lines which are overlapping at the end. Of course they need to be planar, but in GH it does not work with overlapping curves. Is there a trick to activate this function? WebJun 13, 2011 · To speed up the operation we store the geometry (all the geometry) into a spatial subdivision tree, then try and find all the curves that define individual planar surfaces. The upshot is that in cases like this, where there is a 1:1 mapping between planar closed input curves and surfaces, the order is -pointlessly- destroyed.

WebJul 16, 2012 · I'm currently working with a GH Defintion, which creates 100.000ds of small, planar closed curves. Since the curves are very small, I would like to display them not with their outlines, but as a solid filling. I could create a timmed planar surface for each of these curves, but that takes very long to calculate. WebMay 16, 2013 · A line-Like Curve is exactly that a curve that is similar to a line. i.e it has a start point and and end point and the curve between them does not deviate from the shortest path. A Line is always a curve but a curve is not always a line. This curve is getting the same points on it as the others. It is entirely possible that a transformed nurbs surface gains a tiny amount of noise, which would mean it is technically no longer planar, even though the deviation would be 100 times smaller than the planck length.

WebThis is due to the way planar surfaces are created. A planar surface is basically a rectangular surface that has parts cut off to create the holes and the curved edges. When we divide the surface Grasshopper still tries to create points on the cut off pieces of the planar surface, but it will off course not succeed. WebA lot of components in Grasshopper let us set a reference plane for either the creation of objects, transformations, or other operations. In general, it’s a better idea to generate construction planes first and then create the objects on top of them. In an algorithm, it’s easy to generate a unique plane for every object.
